The Platform 66 Heritage Centre is the latest addition to the facilities at the Old Station Club. An unused part of the old Station house has been converted into a Heritage Centre and Youth Club, this has been an ongoing project over a number of years and was completed in 2020, but continues to develop.

Stamford Bridge has an important part in English history. In 1066 King Harold defeated the Viking army at Stamford Bridge and learnt after the battle that the Normans had begun their invasion of England. So Harold raced with this army to Hastings on the south coast where Harold was killed and his army defeated.

The Platform 66 Heritage Centre is the home to the Stamford Bridge Tapestry, which like the medieval Bayeux tapestry has been painstakingly worked by members of the local community. It tells the story of the King Harold`s exploits and is displayed in glass cabinets on the walls of Platform 66. It is a fascinating piece of work and is the centrepiece of the Centre`s archive.

There is also a pictorial timeline of village life from the Roman period up till the present day. As this archive is housed in the Old Station building there is lots of information about the local railway and the impressive viaduct that crosses the river close by.

In 2024 we added the standards of the Stamford Bridge British Legion branch, these are now permanently displayed within Platform 66.
